Tripod! (and other news)
Amalia is working on the tripod and can hold it for a maximum of 3 seconds before toppling over which ever way her big head is pointing. No offense to the ultrasounders at Masonic, but they were way off when they kept saying that she has a small head. Either that or her head has outpaced all her other growth by a factor of at least 2.
In other news, we were in South Bend this weekend and had two tantalizing failures of seeing family members perform.
First was tio James do a reading of his book The Order of Odd Fish at the library. It's all your holiday shopping done! Although we've seen him read a few times, it's always a good time. We were just 15 minutes late getting there, but that was enough to have missed the reading entirely, but the question and answer period was fun, as were the cookies.
Later we went to Grandma and Farfar's Christmas concert. We stayed for a few songs, but Amalia was exhausted and Domingo only had a short nap in the car, so coping skills were at a minimum, and a long concert that other people perhaps wanted to listen to, was probably not the best place to push the envelope. Domingo has no concept of whispering, and kept asking in a really loud voice, "Where's Grandma?" "Where's the tuba?" "What stage?" etc. I think had one of them fallen asleep, or at least had Amalia been willing to nurse to sleep, we could have made it work. But as it was we left at intermission.
Then Sunday we tried to take Christmas card pictures, this is one from the no pile:
"Listen kid, if we're good we get presents!"
I can't believe it's so near. One bad thing about going back to work the first week of January is that this last month flies by at the speed of light. There is so much to do, so many people to see, it just goes so fast. So it takes a lot of effort to slow it down and savor my last few weeks. But savor I will!
